Dump Box Gooseneck Trailer

The H&H Dump Box trailer has been making some huge waves over the past few years. It has been referred to as the absolute best dump box trailer in the industry. With dozens of standard features and a few amazing options (such as the gooseneck hitch pictured here) it is easy to see why! This isn’t some flimsy, cheaply made trailer. Our gooseneck dump box trailer is a work horse of a trailer. It is designed for the person who truly needs/depends on a tough trailer to put food on his family’s table!

By just looking at it you can tell that it is the kind of trailer that is built to last through a lifetime of hard, rugged work. The gooseneck option is made from our exclusive 8” channel steel and has multiple gussets to reinforce it. You also get a 20,000lb adjustable (and interchangeable) height coupler, drop down nose, and a 12,000lb drop leg jack.

After reading that last sentence you may be asking yourself…What the heck is a drop down nose? Well you see how there is a bend in the gooseneck? That is the ‘drop down nose’. The drop down nose on H&H goosenecks eliminates excessive coupler flex under heavy loads. This, in turn, eliminates that ‘jerking’ sensation you’ve felt when you have pulled other trailers.

Gooseneck Coupler for Dump Box Trailer

Here is a better picture of the 20,000lb capacity adjustable height 2 5/16” coupler that is used on our gooseneck trailers. It is stronger coupler than most, has more travel length, and allows you to ‘level’ the deck, no matter what truck you want to tow with.

You can also choose to have a fifth wheel king pin hitch instead of the standard 2 5/16” gooseneck coupler. Switching between the two is a breeze. By simply loosening the two bolts in the front of the coupler you can switch between a fifth wheel king pin hitch and a ball mount coupler at any time.

Dump Box Trailer Gooseneck Gussets

Our gussets are bigger and stronger than any others on the market today! Our neck gussets are at least twice the size of gussets that you will find on non H&H trailers. They are made out of 3/16" steel and they run from the top of the neck to just above the bottom of the neck.

Dump Box Trailer Control Box

Every H&H dump box trailer comes with this custom control box. Every unit comes with a 400 AMP hour deep cycle battery pre-wired, a complete hydraulic pump system and a remote with a 15 foot cord to allow you some movement while operating the trailer’s hoist. It’s all standard on an H&H dump box series trailer

Rear Side View of Dump Box Trailer

All H&H dump box trailers come standard with an 81” wide, 12’ long, and 2’ deep box. You can also upgrade to our 14’ long model and/or 7 ton. The box frame is made out of channel steel and rectangular tube steel. The walls of the box are made out of 12 gauge steel and the floor is 10 gauge steel.

Other standard items that come on our dump box trailers are the white 8 bolt (on 6.5 spacing) wheels, 235/80R-16 trailer radials, diamond plate steel teardrop fenders, sealed beam rubber mounted L.E.D. lights, numerous stake pockets, side board provisions, and a multiple position gate. All pictured above.

Dump Box Trailer Combo Gate

We invested heavily in designing our exclusive truck style gate. The gate pictured here is our optional combo gate. It is an extremely versatile gate and you won’t find another one like it on the market today. It comes with four chain latches and two regulator chains. The chains are not shown in this picture. Here the gate is locked (with our EZTrip latches) in the ‘road ready’ position.

You can also see the storage area for the two ramps that are locked under the gate and the rear L.E.D. light bar. The ramps are secured by spring loaded trip latches. This system is durable, has a minimum of moving parts, has no clips or pins to lose and keeps the ramps riding about as quiet as possible. Trust us, this beats the alternative that some manufacturers make you endure…such as ramps hanging on the sides of the trailer banging and clanging every time you hit a bump. Which isn’t pleasant at all.

The H&H XL Series DumpBox
The durability you expect at a price you can afford

Here at H&H, we have always built trailers for professionals who rely on their trailers to get the job done. Whether being used for landscape, lawn care, general contracting, or a million other uses, we build trailers to take whatever you can throw at it on a daily basis. H&H customers keep coming back when their trailer needs change for one reason: H&H trailers are built to last.

Let’s say you already own an H&H SpeedLoader or Heavy Duty Flatbed and absolutely love it. It gets your equipment to the jobsite on time every time, but you now have the occasional need for a dump box. You love the features and durability of an H&H Dump Box, but you are not the type of guy who needs to use it everyday, and are having trouble justifying the investment.

Well, here is the answer to your dilemma. With the XL Series Dump Box, you get the exact same chassis and box as in our standard DB Series dump box, but with quite a bit shaved off the price!!

Here is how we did it:

Starting at the front, you notice that a 2 5/16” A-Frame Posi-Lock coupler is used in lieu of the DB Series Adjustable Height coupler. Our research showed that the vast majority of our dump box customers rarely (if ever) take full advantage of the adjustable height coupler we have offered as standard equipment for years, so there is no love lost here.

Also notice that we have scrapped the 12,000# gooseneck style spring loaded drop leg jack in favor of a 7,000# drop leg jack. This jack has proved it’s durability over the years, being the standard jack on the SpeedLoader and H&H Cargo lines. The 7,000# jack has plenty of strength for the vast majority of our dump box customers, and if you look around, we are the only company giving you guys a 12,000# jack standard. You’re welcome.

Looking at the XL Dumpbox, you may have to hunt for a while to find the differences. Yes, that is 8” structural channel steel for the frame with the tongue being composed of 6” channel, just like on the DB Series. Running gear on the XL Series is the same 235 series E rated radial tires on 16” wheels, attached to the 6,000# drop axles that you are used to seeing.

If you look closely at the box sides, you can see that the sides are constructed with tube steel reinforcements instead of the cool little formed steel box braces you find on our standard line. Knowing what you really need in a trailer, you still find stake pockets and board extension provisions at the top of the box. Like I said, this dump box is capable of doing everything its big brother can.

A closer look at the fenders reveals that these are our standard 10” wide smooth steel fender, not the diamond plate teardrop fender found on the DB Series. The standard fender features the Y-brace found in all our other fenders, so it is still tough enough to walk on!

The rear gate has remained unchanged, as we didn’t want to mess with such a great design. The standard gate is controlled by 4 EZ Trip latches, which allows it to be used as a spreader gate or a standard tailgate. This photo shows the lower EZ Trip latches released. Just secure the lower latches and release the top ones, and you have a drop-down tailgate! Release the supplied regulator chains, and the gate will lower all the way to the ground, allowing you to load equipment into the trailer.

You also have the option of ordering your XL Series Dumpbox with our popular combo gate, which adds a side hinge, allowing you to swing the entire gate around to the curb side of the trailer for loading and unloading.

Again, with economy in mind, we opted for our DOT legal sealed beam incandescent lighting system on this trailer, instead of the LED lights found on other Dumpbox models. In this photo, you can also see one of the lower EZ Trip latches, as well as the back side of the standard fender.

In the rear shot, you can see the sealed beam tail/stop/turn combination lights, as well as our tri-bar marker light. Also notice the ramp carriers integrated into the rear bumper of the trailer.

As you probably expected, the major cost savings is underneath the box. Instead of the expensive (and heavy) truck type hoist system, the underside of the box was redesigned to act as a fully boxed hoist using this single 5” cylinder. With 3200# of line pressure, you will not have any problems getting the job done with this system.

Also notice the massive 8” channel steel frame and fully wrapped and gusseted 6” tongue.

Instead of using a tongue mounted control box, the pump and battery are mounted underneath the bed, a la SpeedLoader EX.

What good is a Dumpbox if you can’t take your skid loader with you? Just like our DB Series, you get a pair of our Heavy Duty 3” channel ramps as standard equipment on the XL Series Dumpbox, as well as 4 D-rings for tying your equipment down. The ramps store underneath the trailer, accessible by spring loaded trip latches, the way it should be.

Another notable feature on the XL Series Dumpbox is the fact that it has an 81” wide interior box (and gate), just like its big brother. Those of you who have ever tried to load your 78” wide loader in the other guy’s dump box (with a 79” bed) will appreciate this design. It is amazing how just a few inches can make the difference between getting the job done or putting you behind schedule!

Well there you have it. The XL Series Dumpbox, only from your friends at the H&H Trailer Company. Another exciting trailer model with a rock solid design, the best warranty, and a nationwide network of dealers ready to serve you.

Introducing the 2006 H&H Hi-Deck© Dump Box

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you combined the absolute best dump box in the world with the best flat deck trailer money can buy? Not one to leave you to question, The H&H Trailer Company has unveiled the new Hi-Deck© Dump Box Trailer.

For those of you not familiar with the H&H logo, the trailer under it is built to take the demands of heavy use day after day, year after year. At H&H, we design and build trailers that will last through a lifetime of hard, rugged work. As you would expect, this beast of a trailer is no exception. This article will cover just a few of the features on a 20’ model with a GVWR of 25,000 lbs.

Starting at the neck of the new H&H Hi-Deck© Dump Box, you see that we use nothing but the best – a massive 12” wide flange I-Beam drop down neck. No cheap channel goosenecks here! You also get a standard 2 5/16” adjustable coupler, drop down nose, and dual 12K jacks.

The drop down nose is a much overlooked feature on all H&H Hi-Deck goosenecks. The downward angle of the neck eliminates excessive coupler flex under heavy loads, which in turn eliminates the “jerking” sensation you can feel when pulling other trailers.

Here is a better picture of the 30,000 lb adjustable height coupler that is standard equipment on the H&H Hi-Deck© Dump Box. It is a stronger coupler than most, has more travel length, and allows you to level the deck, no matter what truck you are towing it with. This coupler also allows you to easily switch to a kingpin from a fifth wheel hitch.

The standard 60” tall sides (yes kids, those are a whopping 5 feet tall) are removable for versatility. This 20’ model boasts 28 *cubic yards of hauling capacity with a GVWR of 25,000 lbs. The optional 10” high side boards allow for additional *cubic yards to be added to the load. For those of you getting paid by the cubic yard, you need one of these!

Moving around to the rear of this beast, you can see the standard combo gate. Not only does it hinge from the top like a standard dump gate, it also swings around to the curb side simply by releasing the cam lock style latch. This feature allows you to load your skid loader or tractor with the optional 76” ramps and get all your equipment to a job site in one trip.

In a close up of the rear gate, you can see the cam lock style latch for the side swinging combo gate. To operate the spreader feature of the gate, simply unlock the latches on both sides of the trailer.
Very simple, yet effective.

Going up!

Tucked neatly under the neck of this trailer is where all the magic happens. This shot shows the battery box and the hydraulic pump (protected behind the ATP shield). The remote features a 6’ cable, for easy control of the box from the cab of your truck.

The real brawn of this trailer is found underneath with our custom designed hoist mechanism. Instead of adding an expensive scissor lift, we developed an extremely durable caged dual cylinder lift that uses the frame of the bed as a hoist, without adding any weight. With 3200 lbs. of line pressure running into the 4” cylinders, the Hi-Deck© Dump Box will handily lift its capacity for years to come.

A closer look under the box shows the Hi-Deck© Dump Box’s huge 19 lb 12” I beam frame and 8” channel box frame. Notice how nicely the optional ramps tuck up under the 10 gauge (yes, TEN gauge) floor. Also notice the multiple welds joining the floor and outriggers to the cross members. This is a trademark of H&H and it is why we give you a 10 year limited warranty on the frame of this trailer.

There you have it, folks: The 2006 H&H Hi-Deck© Dump Box Series. Available in 16 and 20 foot lengths with capacities from 14,000 lbs. to 25,900 lbs, this is a value packed line of dump boxes. Thanks for taking the time to learn more about our products.
